Migri Platformer

A public art game projected on the offices of the Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) in Helsinki as part of The Festival of Untimely Art hosted by Eloa Culture Company.

This video game simulates Finland’s rigorous and robotic residence permit process that many foreigners must endure. In the game, participants are able to have their own excruciatingly stressful Migri residence permit application experience. Unfortunately, those who try to find their way through this system often end up falling through the cracks. The precarious nature of the game—where if you fall, you die—mirrors the reality for many foreigners in Finland, where if, for whatever reason, they fail at the game in real life, their life in Finland will come to an end, in that they must leave the country.

Players are recruited to help the character Harriharri overcome next-level bureaucracy and apply for his residence permit!
